Disabled access to two new galleries at the Museum of Flight, East Fortune, is being funded with £49,000 in grant-aid from landfill tax.

Entrance and exit ramps, which will also help families with buggies, are being provided at Fantastic Flight and Fortunes of War.

Grant-aid for this came from Viridor Credits Scotland which distributes the landfill tax credits which Viridor Waste Management makes available to support environmental, conservation and community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Fantastic Flight will see a former Second World War RAF workshop restored and opened as an interactive gallery about the principles of flight.

Aimed at families and children, the educational facility will explain how things fly, how aircraft are designed and how to be a pilot. It will use objects and stories to bring the exhibition to life.

Fortunes of War will be a display about the history of the East Fortune airfield — now home to the Museum of Flight.
